Century Waste

Anti-Competitive and Deceptive Business Practices

In 2010, the Business Integrity Commission imposed a fine of $50,000 and an independent monitorship on Century Waste for engaging in anti-competitive and deceptive business practices, and making false and misleading statements to potential customers.  These penalties stemmed from Savino and Century’s efforts to capture the former customers of Canal Carting and Canal Sanitation, which were denied a renewed license following charges of illegal dumping and numerous financial and reporting violations.  The Commission stated that “Century’s actions were a particularly egregious attempt to circumvent the Commission’s rules in order to stifle competition among carters for the former Canal customers.”
